While former President Donald Trump was in New York City last month to attend the memorial service for a police officer killed in the line of duty, President Joe Biden visited the Big Apple for a star-studded campaign fundraiser that raised about $26 million for his re-election bid.
Trump offered remarks at the event held for fallen officer Jonathan Diller and later slammed Biden for his comparative silence on the issue.
“They didn’t even call the family,” he said of Biden administration officials. “They could have called. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist.”
While the Biden campaign was pleased to add millions to the coffers at the fundraiser for which tickets commanded as much as $500,000 each, Trump subsequently held a fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida, where his campaign reportedly brought in nearly twice as much.
A week ago, Biden set a fundraising record by gathering a cavalcade of celebrities and two former presidents and descending on the financial sector of the world, New York City.
Today, Trump doubled that by himself at his hometown.
Wow.

The Republican National Committee indicated that the presumptive GOP presidential nominee shattered “every fundraising record in history for a Republican or Democrat.”
In a statement released ahead of the event, Trump campaign advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles declared: “Tonight will be an incredible night for President Trump and the Republican Party, raising an astounding $50.5 million. Meanwhile, after locking up the nomination in one of the fastest primaries in modern political history, Donald J. Trump is winning poll after poll and proving that the enthusiasm is on his side. It’s clearer than ever that we have the message, the operation, and the money to propel President Trump to victory on November 5.”
RNC Chair Michael Whatley and Co-Chair Lara Trump also weighed in on the latest campaign haul.
“The success of tonight’s event is proving what we already know: Americans are fed up with Biden’s record of failure, from the open southern border and sky-high inflation to the migrant crime crisis that has made everyone less safe. The Republican Party is united behind the effort to elect President Donald J. Trump, and Americans are lining up to join our movement and retire Crooked Joe Biden once and for all.”
Of course, Biden attempted to portray Trump’s successful fundraiser as somehow nefarious.
Claiming that the Trump campaign was depending on a “bunch of hedge fund billionaires,” Biden seemingly forgot the celebrity-packed fundraiser he recently held in New York City in declaring that the “campaign is Scranton versus Palm Beach.”
