President Donald Trump is demanding the FBI keep all records related to its sudden closure of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI). The move, which took place in December 2024, has raised questions, especially with Trump set to return to the White House.
“We demand that the FBI preserve and retain all records, documents, and information on the now closing DEI Office—Never should have been opened and, if it was, should have closed long ago,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Why is it that they’re closing one day before the Inauguration of a new Administration? The reason is, CORRUPTION!”
Although the FBI confirmed that the ODI closed at the end of 2024, the agency offered no further explanation for the decision. This has left many wondering about the motivation behind the closure, particularly with the change in leadership just around the corner.

Trump has consistently opposed diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, calling them divisive and counterproductive. His nomination for FBI director, Kash Patel, has echoed these sentiments, criticizing DEI initiatives as a distraction from critical law enforcement work.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has voiced similar concerns, questioning the FBI’s focus on DEI. In a letter to outgoing FBI Director Christopher Wray, Blackburn argued that the bureau should focus on its core mission of protecting Americans, not promoting diversity agendas.
