Polling from RMG Research reveals that 42% of federal workers plan to resist Trump’s agenda. This opposition is particularly strong among Democrat-identifying employees, with 73% expressing plans to actively work against Trump’s policies. Conversely, 89% of Republican federal employees support the incoming administration.
One strategy Trump could adopt is reinstating the Schedule F classification, which would enable the reassignment or removal of federal employees who obstruct executive directives. Implementing this policy could help minimize internal resistance and ensure government agencies are aligned with the administration’s objectives.
The disconnect between federal employees and the general public is striking. According to the survey, 59% of Main Street Americans support Trump’s plans, while only 28% favor bureaucratic resistance. In comparison, members of the political elite are more supportive of internal opposition.
