President Donald Trump has signed an executive order granting clemency to 23 pro-life advocates who were prosecuted during President Joe Biden’s tenure. The move fulfills Trump’s campaign pledge to address what he called unjust legal actions against peaceful demonstrators.

The individuals pardoned were convicted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, a law critics argue has been misused to target those who oppose abortion. Trump emphasized that these individuals were punished for exercising their First Amendment rights, calling their treatment by the Biden administration “ridiculous.”
Congratulations to @MrsBevelynW on being pardoned by President Trump!
Bev never should have been jailed! The Biden regime prosecuted her & jailed her for PRAYING outside an abortion clinic.

Among those pardoned is Lauren Handy, who was sentenced to prison after participating in a 2020 demonstration at a Washington, D.C. abortion clinic. Authorities later reported finding fetal remains in her home, which pro-life groups claim were intended to highlight illegal practices at abortion facilities.

The legal advocacy group Thomas More Society, which represented many of those convicted, expressed gratitude for Trump’s action, stating the prosecutions were politically motivated. The group has been advocating for changes to the FACE Act, arguing it disproportionately impacts pro-life activists while turning a blind eye to attacks on churches and crisis pregnancy centers.
Rep. Chip Roy of Texas and Sen. Mike Lee of Utah have recently introduced legislation to repeal the FACE Act, claiming it infringes on free speech and has been selectively enforced. They argue that the law is outdated, especially in light of the Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.
Trump’s action comes just before the annual March for Life event in Washington, D.C., where pro-life supporters gather to advocate for stronger protections for the unborn. The pardons are being hailed as a significant victory for the movement.
