Trump Border Czar Plans Massive Deportation Effort, Requests 100K Beds

Tom Homan, the newly appointed border czar under President-elect Donald Trump, announced Wednesday that he is seeking Congressional funding to support a large-scale deportation operation. Homan stated that at least 100,000 detention beds will be required to detain migrants awaiting deportation.

“We need Congress to give us some money to get this done,” Homan said during an interview on CNN. He acknowledged that the full scope of the operation remains unclear but emphasized the need for expanded resources to carry out Trump’s immigration policies.

Homan explained that the plan involves Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers conducting nationwide enforcement actions starting on Jan. 20, Trump’s first day in office. Military aircraft would be used to deport individuals, although the military itself will not participate in arrests.

The estimated $86 billion operation aims to reduce federal assistance costs by deporting undocumented migrants, according to Homan. He argued that Trump’s election demonstrates public support for stricter immigration enforcement.

Homan stated that foreign governments would face consequences if they refuse to accept deportees, aligning with Trump’s promise to hold uncooperative nations accountable. “The American people voted for this,” he said, calling for immediate action from Congress.

Homan, who has previously testified before Congress on immigration issues, has criticized the Biden administration’s handling of border policies. His new role as border czar positions him to lead Trump’s aggressive deportation agenda.
