Tennessee Crooks Use Pythons To Pull Off Gas Station Robbery

Police in Madison County, Tennessee, are investigating a convenience store robbery in which a group of suspects used pythons to threaten store employees before making off with stolen goods.

The unusual crime took place on March 4 at a Citgo gas station — where two men and two women entered the store with snakes in hand. Security footage shows the group arriving in a small sedan — pulling up directly in front of the building before stepping inside.

According to store employee Mayur Raval, one of the thieves initially brought in a python before a second was introduced. “They were just waving them around and putting them on the counter,” Raval said. He described one snake as white and the other a mix of brown.

The group managed to grab about $400 worth of CBD oil before rushing out of the store and driving away. Their getaway car had a trunk that appeared to be secured with bungee cords — making it stand out in surveillance images released by authorities.

Investigators are asking for help in identifying the suspects — hoping that someone will recognize them from the footage. Madison County police have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information.

Oddly enough, this is not the first time a robbery in Tennessee has involved a snake. In Memphis last year, a man attempted to hold up a gas station using a five-foot python but was stopped when the clerk pulled out a firearm and called for help.
