Staten Island Bakery Defies Whoopi Goldberg’s Claims, Enjoys Boost In Business

Holtermann’s Bakery, a beloved family-owned bakery in Staten Island, has found itself at the center of a controversy after Whoopi Goldberg accused it of refusing her order due to her political beliefs. However, the bakery has firmly denied the allegations, stating that the issue stemmed from technical problems with their ovens, not any political motivations.

Goldberg, while discussing her birthday desserts on The View, shared that she was told by the bakery that their ovens were down, leading to the refusal of her Charlotte Russe order. However, after sending someone else to pick up the order, Goldberg received the cakes and suggested that the refusal might have been related to her politics.

Since the incident, the bakery has been flooded with orders, and their shelves have been emptied for two consecutive days. Holtermann’s Bakery took to social media to express their gratitude, thanking customers for their support during the unexpected surge in business.

Local leaders have defended the bakery, with Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella criticizing Goldberg’s comments as damaging to the family business. Fossella stated that the bakery has long been a staple of the community and deserved support, not false accusations. State Assembly Member Mike Tannousis (R) also spoke out, suggesting that Goldberg’s comments reflected the elitist attitude that contributed to the Democrats’ losses in the recent elections.

Goldberg has not backed down from her original statement, doubling down on her suspicions in an Instagram video. Legal experts have suggested that Goldberg’s remarks
