Roc Nation Implicated In Impersonating State Officials

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation is facing a lawsuit from attorney Tony Buzbee, who accuses the company and two of its lawyers of impersonating Texas officials in a bid to disrupt his ongoing litigation efforts. The lawsuit claims Roc Nation sought to intimidate Buzbee’s firm, which represents 120 plaintiffs in cases involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Buzbee alleges that Roc Nation lawyers Marcy Croft and Quinn Emanuel organized a scheme to persuade his clients to sue his firm. According to court documents, agents from Roc Nation allegedly posed as state officials, using fake badges and offering financial incentives to current and former Buzbee clients.

The lawsuit claims one client was offered $10,000 to file a lawsuit against the Buzbee Law Firm. Buzbee also said Croft was caught on tape describing the scheme, asserting that the lawsuits would generate media attention. “We will not be bullied or intimidated,” Buzbee stated, adding that the illegal conduct was “sloppy” and exposed through audio recordings.

Roc Nation has rejected the allegations, calling the lawsuit baseless. “This is nothing but a sham,” a company representative said. Croft similarly denied the claims, saying they were fabricated to distract from Buzbee’s legal challenges.

The accusations come amid a larger legal battle involving Combs and Jay-Z, both of whom are accused of serious crimes. Combs’ sex trafficking trial is set to begin in May 2025, following today’s pretrial conference in New York.

Buzbee’s lawsuit alleges that Roc Nation’s actions were specifically aimed at derailing his firm’s cases related to the allegations against Combs and other entertainment industry figures.
