Republicans Must Block Biden’s Radical Judicial Nominees Before It’s Too Late

As President Biden’s term winds down, Senate Republicans face an urgent challenge: stopping his far-left judicial nominees from securing lifetime appointments. Mike Davis, a former law clerk for Justice Neil Gorsuch, argues that Republicans must remain focused and use every available tool to prevent Biden’s radical nominees from gaining a foothold in the federal judiciary.

Biden’s judicial nominees have raised alarm due to their progressive ideologies, with many holding views that could undermine conservative policies. Tali Farhadian Weinstein, nominated for a district court position in New York, has expressed support for allowing noncitizens to vote. These views, if confirmed, could influence rulings for decades, making it imperative that Republicans block her and other left-wing nominees.

The Senate has a powerful tool at its disposal: debate time. Senate rules allow up to 30 hours of debate for each circuit court nominee, and Republicans should use every minute of this time to delay the confirmation process. Even if Democrats choose to waive their time, Republicans can still take advantage of the debate time to slow down the process and ensure that these controversial nominees are fully scrutinized.

The consequences of confirming these judges are far-reaching. They could issue rulings that challenge conservative policies and block President Trump’s future agenda. Republicans must stay in Washington and continue the fight to prevent these appointments from going forward.

Davis reminds Republicans that Senate Democrats set the precedent for obstruction during the Trump administration. In 2017, Democrats delayed Trump’s judicial appointments at every opportunity. Senate Republicans should be prepared to use these same tactics once Schumer and the Democrats return to the minority.

The time to act is now. Senate Republicans must block Biden’s radical judicial nominees before it’s too late and ensure that the integrity of the judiciary is protected for future generations.
