Report: Illegal Migrants Returning To Seized Eagle Pass Park

Despite the strenuous efforts of Texas officials to secure the notorious Eagle Pass crossing site, the area is gradually returning to its previous levels of illegal migrant traffic.

Breitbart News published photos showing migrants who evaded law enforcement efforts on both sides of the border. Under Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas seized control of the park that was the epicenter of the local border invasion.

Federal officials fought the move and won a favorable ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court. And despite the intensified law enforcement presence, the crisis is returning to normal.

On Tuesday, more than 300 migrants were apprehended just south of Eagle Pass. Of course, “apprehended” under the Biden administration does not mean they were sent back across the border as it would logically be assumed.

Instead, the crossers race to be plucked up by Border Patrol so they may then be released into the nation’s interior.

The massive Tuesday haul consisted mostly of Venezuelans and Central Americans. However, data from the last few years showed that these illegal migrants are increasingly from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Many are military-aged young males traveling alone.

A Sunday news conference was held at the site by Gov. Abbott. He was joined by several other governors in voicing concerns to Washington over Biden’s lack of border enforcement.

The Texas seizure of the park last month resulted in a strenuous back-and-forth between state officials and the White House. Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) repeatedly demanded access to Shelby Park, even though its efforts amounted to merely catch and release.

State authorities agreed to allow federal agents into the park in the event of an emergency. That was not good enough for DHS, which said it wants unrestricted access.

Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton disputed DHS claims that the agency owns property rights in the area. He further dismissed the assertion that agents need access to patrol the border.

Instead, Paxton declared “this office will continue to defend Texas’s efforts to protect its southern border against every effort by the Biden administration to undermine the state’s constitutional right to self-defense.”
