Plane Crashes In Victoria, Texas, Strikes Vehicles And Injures 4

A twin-engine plane crashed onto a highway in Victoria, Texas, on Wednesday afternoon, colliding with three vehicles and injuring four people. Authorities are investigating the incident, which occurred around 3 p.m. near a highway overpass.

The aircraft, a Piper PA-31, was carrying only the pilot at the time of the crash. The impact split the plane in two, with debris scattered across the road and one section resting on a car. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured and secure the area.

Three people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at local hospitals. Another individual was transported to a more advanced facility for treatment. The pilot was conscious and evaluated at the scene, Victoria Police Deputy Chief Eline Moya said.

Eyewitness Tony Poynor recounted hearing the plane’s engine and seeing its shadow pass over his truck moments before it crashed. “It was still horizontal, then it started to wobble and went down,” Poynor said. He approached the wreckage but was unable to assist the pilot.

The FAA has opened an investigation into the cause of the crash. The pilot’s identity has not been disclosed, and the circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear.

Despite the severity of the accident, officials expressed relief that injuries were not more serious. The busy highway intersection could have resulted in a far more catastrophic outcome, police said.
