Outrage As 158 Democrats Vote Against Sex Offender Deportation Bill

The House of Representatives passed a Republican-led bill to deport illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes, but 158 Democrats voted against it. The Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), passed with 266 votes, drawing bipartisan support but heavy Democratic opposition.

The bill aims to deport individuals convicted of sexual offenses or domestic violence and block those admitting to such crimes from entering the U.S. Republican lawmakers expressed outrage over the 158 Democrats who opposed the measure, accusing them of ignoring public safety.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) dismissed the bill as a partisan maneuver, while Republicans countered that opposing it sends a dangerous message about prioritizing political correctness over protecting vulnerable communities.

Mace’s role in advancing the legislation is notable, given her past. Who has distanced herself from Trump over January 6, she has since aligned with him in recent months, raising skepticism about her motivations.

Among the Democrats voting for the bill were Reps. Mary Peltola (D-AK) and Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), who cited safety concerns as reasons for their support. Slotkin, who is running for Senate, has faced criticism from progressives for breaking with her party.

This legislation is one of several GOP-led efforts to address border-related crime and public safety, areas of increasing concern nationwide.
