NYPD Interim Commissioner Targeted In FBI Raid As Corruption Investigation Expands

The NYPD has been hit with yet another scandal as federal agents raided the home of Interim Commissioner Thomas Donlon last week. The raid, which took place on September 20, comes shortly after the resignation of former Commissioner Edward Caban, who is also under investigation.

In a statement, Donlon confirmed the raid, explaining that the FBI seized materials he had in his possession for over two decades but insisted that the items were unrelated to his work with the NYPD. “This is not a department matter,” Donlon said, choosing not to provide further details on the situation.

The New York Post reports that the FBI’s interest in Donlon may be connected to his previous work with classified materials while serving at both the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. Donlon has held prominent positions, including heading the FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force and serving as New York’s Homeland Security director.

Donlon was appointed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams following Caban’s resignation. Caban’s departure was tied to a criminal investigation involving his brother, James Caban, and whether Edward Caban used his position to resolve issues for his brother’s nightclub security business.

Federal agents have been investigating several people connected to Adams, including other high-ranking officials in City Hall. Mayor Adams himself is under scrutiny, with federal authorities investigating potential corruption involving his interactions with the Turkish government.
