NRCC Ad Blasts Kamala Harris, Targets Role In Border Crisis

As Democrats debate President Joe Biden’s future candidacy, the House Republicans’ campaign arm has released a new digital ad focusing on Vice President Kamala Harris. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) targets Harris for her unwavering support of Biden and her management of the border as border czar.

The ad opens with clips of Harris commending Biden’s leadership, contrasted with footage of Biden’s missteps, including stumbling and being assisted by others. The NRCC accuses Harris of being “Biden’s enabler in chief” and blames her for the border crisis, showing scenes of large groups of migrants while Harris claims the border is secure.

NRCC National Press Secretary Will Reinert indicated that the ad aims to prepare Republicans to either confront extreme House Democrats if they replace Biden or remind voters that Harris is next in line if they don’t. The ad was posted on X Wednesday morning.

Following Biden’s debated performance against former President Donald Trump, where critics noted Biden’s cognitive challenges, there have been increasing calls within the Democratic Party for the 81-year-old president to step down. Harris is frequently mentioned as a potential replacement, with the Democratic National Convention slated for August in Chicago.

The NRCC ad includes clips of prominent Democrats like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Jim Clyburn expressing their support for Harris, suggesting her potential succession. The ad ends with a plea to vote Republican in November to halt Harris’s political ascent, highlighting the GOP’s strategy to capitalize on the current administration’s perceived weaknesses.
