Musk Doubles Down On Fauci Criticism, Calls For Accountability

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has once again called for Dr. Anthony Fauci to face prosecution, posting on X, “My pronouns are still prosecute/Fauci.” Musk’s remark follows years of his outspoken criticism of Fauci’s role in managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

The comment was part of a broader exchange highlighting Fauci’s financial benefits from decades in government service. Critics point to his $480,654 annual salary at retirement, an estimated $355,000 pension, and a reported $11 million net worth as evidence of what they see as excessive compensation for a public servant.

Fauci has also faced scrutiny for the $15 million spent on his security since stepping down in 2022. Musk and others have questioned the necessity of such measures, further fueling conservative critiques of Fauci’s legacy.

Musk has previously accused Fauci of funding controversial research in Wuhan and misleading Congress about its risks. During a House panel investigation earlier this year, Republican lawmakers echoed these concerns, alleging Fauci’s involvement in a lab leak cover-up. Fauci denied the accusations, calling them “simply preposterous.”

Musk’s stance has long been part of his broader critique of pandemic responses. He has reversed Twitter bans on discussions of COVID-19’s origins and referred to early pandemic panic as “dumb.” His ongoing efforts to hold officials accountable align with President-elect Donald Trump’s calls for reform in government agencies.

As Musk continues to advise Trump, his push for accountability is likely to shape conservative efforts to revisit pandemic-era policies and decisions.
