Investigation Launched After Springbreakers Caught Dumping Trash In Ocean During Boca Bash

Florida residents are once again speaking out about the inconsiderate and reckless behavior of spring breakers this time in response to a viral video showing a group of drunken partiers dumping two large trash cans full of garbage into the ocean during the annual Boca Bash event.

The incident which occurred as approximately 10,000 young people descended on Lake Boca Raton for a day of wild partying and excessive drinking has sparked outrage among local residents who are sick and tired of tourists having no regard for the safety or cleanliness of their vacation spots.

Boca resident Rodrigo Samsing condemned the spring breakers’ actions in an interview with local news station WSVN saying, “It just really infuriates you to see someone trash the ocean like that. You know, nobody else on the boat tried to stop them. Everybody was just celebrating. I mean they already had the trash sitting in the garbage can, they could have just put a bag, grabbed a bag, filled it up and thrown it away. Instead, they just dump it carelessly into the ocean. It’s just really sad to see.”

Representatives for Boca Bash told the news station that the spring breakers have since been identified and condemned their actions as “completely unacceptable.” An investigation into the incident has been launched by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission though it is unclear whether any arrests have been made.

The incident is just the latest example of the challenges faced by popular vacation towns in dealing with the often irresponsible and destructive behavior of tourists particularly during peak seasons like Spring Break.
