Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, was reportedly barred from being alone with female interns due to his flirtatious behavior, according to a new book by Anupreeta Das, “Billionaire, Nerd, Savior, King: Bill Gates and His Quest to Shape Our World.” The Daily Mail reviewed the book, which details Gates’ interactions with young women at Microsoft and the Gates Foundation.
Described as acting like a “kid at a candy store” around young women, Gates made numerous unwanted advances, creating an uncomfortable environment for interns. A colleague once reprimanded someone for sending a young, attractive intern to Gates’ office alone, saying: “She’s too young and too pretty.”
The book also discusses the breakdown of Gates’ marriage with Melinda Gates, which began to deteriorate significantly in 2019 after his ties to Jeffrey Epstein were exposed. Das chronicles Gates’ alleged infidelity, including pursuing women at Microsoft even while serving as chairman.
In the mid-2000s, the Gates’ marriage faced a rough patch, leading them to seek marriage counseling. Gates had an unusual arrangement with tech entrepreneur Ann Winblad to spend a weekend together annually, even after marrying Melinda. Following his divorce, Gates began dating Paula Hurd, the widow of former Oracle CEO Mark Hurd.
Melinda first met Bill in 1987 while working at Microsoft, where he was her boss.
