The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has filed a complaint alleging illegal ballot harvesting at a Milwaukee absentee ballot drop box just days before the election. According to CPAC, a witness reported seeing an individual deposit what appeared to be hundreds of absentee ballots into a drop box outside Milwaukee City Hall before quickly leaving the scene.
In its complaint to the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) and local law enforcement, CPAC called the incident a possible case of “fraud or corruption in the voting process.” Ballot harvesting is prohibited in Wisconsin, making this allegation particularly concerning as it suggests potential interference with the election. CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp emphasized that election integrity is a top priority and urged immediate action from both WEC and law enforcement.

The witness, who submitted photographs of the event, stated they saw the individual approach the drop box around 7:55 p.m. on October 25. According to the report, the person was carrying two bags, including a large green bag, and emptied its contents multiple times into the drop box before fleeing upon realizing they were being photographed.
CPAC shared that this complaint underscores their commitment to protecting fair elections. Schlapp voiced concerns on social media, insisting that WEC and local authorities investigate thoroughly to determine if illegal activity occurred.

This incident follows past controversies in Milwaukee’s election operations. During the 2020 election, former Milwaukee election director Claire Woodall-Vogg was criticized over delays and her use of “Zuckbucks,” funds from Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg aimed at assisting election operations, which raised questions over potential bias.
Current Milwaukee election administrator Paulina Gutierrez recently stated that the city’s drop boxes are equipped with cameras and that a strict ballot-handling protocol is in place. Despite these measures, CPAC is urging further investigation to ensure compliance with Wisconsin’s election laws.
