Border Patrol Union Backs Texas Guard Over Biden Administration

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) union for border patrol members backed the Texas National Guard in a statement Thursday, supporting the state militia’s work to secure the border with Mexico in defiance of Biden White House directives.

“Rank-and-file BP agents are not going to start arresting TX NG members for following their LAWFUL orders. That’s fake news. TX NG and rank-and-file BP agents work together and respect each other’s jobs. Period,” said the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

“If TX NG members have LAWFUL orders, then they have to carry out those orders. TX NG members realize that rank-and-file BP agents have their orders as well. Lawful orders, no matter how unpopular or distasteful amongst rank-and-file agents, must be followed.”

The union further hinted that Border Patrol may not carry out the Democrat president’s Supreme Court-approved order to remove razor-wire barriers placed at key points along the border by the Texas National Guard: “Unlawful orders (as determined by competent legal counsel and not what some outhouse lawyer behind a keyboard says) will not be followed.”

To top off the strong statement in support of Texas, the NBPC referred to Biden’s immigration and border policy as a “catastrophe” for the country: “Rank-and-file BP agents appreciate and respect what TX has been doing to defend their state in the midst of this catastrophe that the Biden Admin has unleashed on America.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) vowed last week to continue using razor-wire installations as physical barriers to prevent illegal entry into his state, despite the White House directive and Supreme Court ruling in Washington D.C. authorizing Border Patrol agents to cut through the wire. Former President Donald Trump has publicly supported the governor’s efforts.

The Daily Wire recently learned that the state of Texas has maintained its existing razor-wire barriers along the southern border and added even more razor-wire installations, meanwhile barring Border Patrol from conducting operations at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass.
