Biden Campaign Urges Supporters To ‘Keep the Faith’ Despite Debate Fallout

In the wake of President Joe Biden’s terrible debate performance against former President Donald Trump, the Biden campaign has sent a detailed email to supporters, urging them to remain confident and dismiss calls for Biden to step aside. The email, sent by Deputy Campaign Manager Rob Flaherty, aims to reassure supporters while addressing concerns within the party.

In a bid to counter the “bedwetting brigade” — a term used to describe panicked supporters — the email emphasizes that Biden is firmly the Democratic nominee and stepping down would only benefit Trump. Flaherty wrote, “The best possible way for Donald Trump to win and us to lose” is for Biden to drop out. He warned that such a move would lead to chaos and weaken the Democratic position heading into the general election.

In an unexpected twist, the email included results from a poll conducted by a Democratic pollster. The poll shows Trump leading Biden and other potential Democratic candidates, but Flaherty argued that Biden’s margin is only slightly worse than the others, suggesting that changing candidates would not significantly improve the party’s chances.

The poll results included in the email showed Trump leading Biden by three points (48% to 45%), and similar leads against Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Cory Booker, Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, Amy Klobuchar, Josh Shapiro, and J.B. Pritzker.
